Story Archives: Delta Storefront gets makeover

Delta Storefront gets makeover
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
There's a sign that's been hanging on the Delta Storefront Ministries in Ferriday for years.

"We're here for the needy, not the greedy."

The message is the same, but the building has had a complete makeover thanks to Kingdom Builders, which is a construction mission group established when there was an East Central Louisiana Baptist Association. It has grown into a state-wide non-profit with a nine-member board and a resource pool of about 180 volunteers.

Jeff Ames of Vidalia has been part of the Kingdom Builders of the Lord, Inc., for nine years and has helped rebuild churches and has been a part of other services in south Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

"I give whatever I can offer," Ames said. "It was special being a part of a project so close to home. We just want the Lord's word to be heard, not ours."

The Georgia Barnette Offering for state missions and the Louisiana Baptist Convention Church Site Corporation provided the money for the renovation.

Preston and Ruby Holder have been over the mission for the last nine years. The Storefront Mission opened in 1992.

The overall cost of the renovation was $35,000.
