Ashley named Concordia Teacher of the Year
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
When Shannon Ashley was in the seventh grade, her family moved to Vidalia and she began attending Vidalia Junior High.

Ashley has made her way back to Vidalia Junior High, this time as a teacher. And a very good one, at that.

Ashley was named Concordia Parish Teacher of the Year at the Concordia Parish School Board meeting on April 12.

"I was shocked," Ashley said. "Especially for the whole parish."

Ashley was first voted as the top teacher at the Vidalia Junior High by the faculty.

She then was selected as Teacher of the Year in the parish. Ashley was chosen by a selection committee from the Concordia Parish School Board.

Ashley, who graduated from Vidalia High in 1985, teaches 7th grade American History. She attended Louisiana-Monroe, where she planned on becoming a pharmacist.
