Kellie Ensminger of Vidalia, Xavier Ellis of Ferriday and Kayla Grimmett of Monterey have been named winners of Ferriday Rotary Club's annual Ben Green Memorial Scholarship for 2011-12.

Each student will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Ferriday Rotary Club.

The winners were chosen based on an essay, grade point average, ACT score, school and community participation and plans to pursue a degree at a Louisiana college.

Students are scored individually on a point basis by a committee of educators. The essays counted as one-third of the student's score.

The Ben Green Scholarship was created in 1979 following the death of school superintendent Ben Green.
