Former Concordian completing third fantasy book
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Former Concordia Parish resident Maxwell Alexander Drake has become a leading author of fantasy fiction for young adults.

The son of Lorraine Stalians, formerly of Vidalia, Drake has published two books in a six-book saga known as the "Genesis of Oblivion." The two books already published are "Farmers & Mercenaries," and "Mortals & Deities."

The third book, "Dreams & Nightmares," will be published in June, Drake said.

Now living in Las Vegas, Drake, 42, has won a number of awards for his books and is also involved in other projects.

"I wrote my first book at age 12," he said, "but didn't pursue writing until I was in my mid-30s."

He said the books are "high fantasy involving magic, monsters and mayhem. The six-book saga is about two brothers who are opposites but still love each other and end up on the opposite side of a situation. Both are heroes."
