"A hospital that cares."

The logo used by Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday says it all for new administrator Donald "Donny" Rentfro.

"That is a simple statement, but it means a lot," Rentfro said. "From the emergency room to all other areas, we want to let people know this hospital is here for when the people need it. There is no need to go out of town to get health care."

Rentfro's contract is being finalized and he hopes to begin work by early next week.

"I'm chomping at the bit and ready to go," Rentfro said.

Rentfro is replacing Lana Stamper, who resigned. She was named administrator at Riverland in October 2010.

"Lana has done a lot of work with improving the financing of the hospital," Rentfro said. "The hospital is moving in the right direction. A lot of hard decisions had to be made. They have done a lot of great work to put the hospital in the position it needs to be."

Rentfro, 46, worked in Baton Rouge, East Texas and in Kentucky before serving two years (2010-12) as administrator at Natchez Community.

Rentfro and his wife, Missy, have two children, Paige, 11, and Garrett, 9.
