Allen sets business summit Thursday How can Ferriday city government help local businesses?
That's what Mayor-elect Gene Allen wants to know and he hopes to get answers on Thursday when he hosts a business summit at the Arcade Theatre beginning at 1 p.m.
Allen, who served a four-year term as mayor from 2004 to 2008, was elected to the mayor's post again in April. He takes office July 1.
"I want the business community to tell me how we can help Ferriday grow," Allen said Wednesday morning.
Allen said many factors must be considered into making Ferriday a prosperous town, ranging from education to law enforcement to recreation.
"The bottom line at this meeting is what can we do to help business and how can we capitalize on the potential business that passes through Ferriday every day when 30,000 cars pass through town," he said. "How do we make those folks stop in Ferriday and do business with us?"For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
