Superintendent retiring June 30 Loretta Blankenstein said she loves her job as superintendent of parish schools but the time has come to spend more time with her family.
That sentiment was the reason she announced last week her retirement as superintendent effective June 30.
"It's very emotional," Blankenstein said. "It's something that I felt I needed to do."
The School Board accepted Blankenstein's resignation during a special meeting Thursday night.
"I appreciate the job she's done," said Board president Gary Parnham. "Good luck in your future."
The board and those attending the meeting responded by giving Blankenstein a standing ovation.
"Children are the love of my life," Blankenstein said as she tried unsuccessfully to fight back tears. She said she enjoyed working with everyone -- parents, students, teachers, system employees, staff, community and board members. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
