Parish gets $17 million in state funds; $3.5 milion for Black River Lake More than $17 million in capital outlay funding for projects in Concordia Parish -- including $3.5 million for the Black River Lake drainage project -- was approved by the Legislature during the recent session, according to District 32 Sen. Neil Riser of Columbia.
Hwy. 84 four-lane planning and construction, Ferriday health unit renovation and downtown revitalization, and construction of a school gymnasium in Clayton were also placed in the funding pipeline.
Vidalia's port, emergency shelter and industrial park also received funding.
Capital outlay projects are rated from Priority 1, which are first in line for funding, to Priority 5, projects that are on track to being funded at a later date.
Riser said $16,775,600 from House Bill 2 was allocated to the parish for projects such as an emergency shelter, industrial park, drainage improvements, public health center renovation, and downtown revitalization. From House Bill 1, Concordia Parish will receive $300,000 for economic development and from sales tax dedications. Also, from House Bill 1059, $23,000 was included for infrastructure improvements.
The projects listed in House Bill 2, the state capital outlay bill, details how cash and revenue from state bond sales will be used in the 2012-2013 fiscal year for construction, renovation and repair projects throughout the state. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
