Superintendent to be named July 12
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Concordia Parish School Board will fill the position of superintendent at its next regular meeting on July 12.

Applicants for the position include Supervisor of Academic Affairs Dr. Paul Nelson, former Supt. James Lee and Spurgeon Banyard of Mississippi.

Supt. Loretta Blankenstein announced in May that she was retiring effective June 30. Nelson was named as acting superintendent.

The board had originally planned to name the new superintendent during a special meeting Thursday, but postponed the decision in order to comply with a legal requirement that the position not be filled until 30 days after the last advertisement announcing a vacancy was published.

During its regular meeting on Thursday, June 14, the board approved a redistricting plan and adopted tax millages for 2012.

Additionally, the board named Glen Henderson as Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation. He'll replace James McGee, who is retiring.
