Chief, sheriff, mayor plan oaths
Vidalia Police Chief Arthur Lewis, Sheriff-elect Kenneth Hedrick and Ferriday Mayor-elect Gene Allen will take their oaths of office during separate ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.
Lewis will be sworn in as police chief Friday at 1 p.m. at the Vidalia City Court inside the Sidney Murray Hydroplant Building on Texas Avenue. A reception will follow at the new Vidalia Police Department in the Vidalia Municipal Complex.
Hedrick will take his oath during a program slated at the Bryant O. Hammett Vidalia Conference & Convention Center on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Allen has scheduled his inauguration as mayor for Saturday at 4 p.m. The program will be held at Haney's Big House Music Hall on First Street. |
