Machine-pitch all-stars win sub-district

The Concordia Americans Machine Pitch All-Stars defeated South Franklin 21-1 Tuesday to finish unbeaten in the sub-distrtict tournament in Winnsboro.

Concordia edged Rayville 19-18 in extra innings in Winnsboro to clinch the sub-disrict championship.

The Americans will compete in the district tournament beginning Thursday in Monroe.

"This is as talented group as I have seen in some time," said Concordia Americans coach Daniel Grayson. "They hit the ball well. If we can play a little defense, we'll be all right at district."

Tray'lin Minor started off second extra inning with a single and Jarrod Barron singled in the winning run.

Bradford Prunty tripled and collected three singles, Devin Polk tripled and singled three times.

Blake Grayson collected four singles in the contest.

Trace Miller homered twice and singled.

Jake Spears and Preston Higgins had three singles each.

Collecting two hits were Calen McCartney, Minor, Barron, Ethan Clarke, Tyler Gregg and Eli Sharp.

Concordia Americans defeated Catahoula 21-1 on Saturday.

Higgins tripled and singled twice, McCartney singled three times, Miller hit two home runs, while Prunty, Sharp, Clarke, Polk, Gregg and Minor singled twice.

Concordia defeated Winnsboro 17-13 in its first game Friday.

Also assisting with the coaching are Justin Gregg, Michael Miller and Ashley Prunty.
