Events slated at Jefferson College July events at Historic Jefferson College in Natchez include:
July 14, Saturday, EXPLORE! Block Challenge: Learn about architecture and balance using identically shaped wooden blocks. Kids will take the Block Challenge by building things from description only, and seeing how high of tower they can build. For kids ages 6-8 (10:00-11:30 a.m.) and 9-12 (2:00-3:30 p.m.), but parents and grand-parents are always welcome to stay and learn! Pre-registration and payment required. Fee is $10. July 21, Saturday, EXPLORE! History, Dueling: In this program, historians Clark Burkett and Finley Hootsell will discuss the history and techniques of dueling. This program is open to all ages, though parents should accompany their children. It is free of charge, and runs from 1:00-2:30. Contact Toni Avance at tavance@cableone.net for more information.
July 24-27, Tuesday-Friday, Naturalist Camp (ages 9-12): This morning camp for kids ages 9-12 focuses on hands-on projects and observation in the field. Insects, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, bugs and plants are all looked at up close and personal! Cost is $25, pre-registration is required. Contact Robin Person at rperson@mdah.state.ms.us.
