Services Thursday for Cliff Merritt
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Friends and co-workers remembered Delta Bank President and CEO Cliff Merritt with smiles and tears this week following his death Monday after a four-year battle with cancer.

Merritt, 54, had been with Delta Bank for 14 years and despite his illness chose to work until early July.

"The Delta Bank family is deeply saddened by the death of Cliff Merritt," said bank president Ed Haworth. "He exemplified what a leader is and demonstrated in many ways how one person can affect the community.

"Each team member of Delta Bank has been strengthened by the relationship they have experienced with Cliff. We will all remember him not only as a mentor and leader, but a friend."

Services for Merritt are slated for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Vidalia. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. and for one hour after the service.
