State auditors checking records at Clayton Town Hall Legislative auditors have been going through financial records at Clayton Town Hall over the past few days, but Mayor Rydell Turner said Wednesday he was told it was a routine visit.
Assistant Legislative Auditor Allen Brown confirmed that two staff auditors had been dispatched to town hall, but said he could not comment on why they were there.
Earlier this year the town was cited in a financial report for misusing road tax funds, while Turner was cited for spending $2,820 on gasoline for his personal vehicle in 2011 without documentation to support the purchases.
Turner said after the report was filed with the Legislative Auditor by the CPA firm of Silas Simmons, LLP in Natchez that he was putting into place any corrections recommended in the report. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
