After two months in the red, Riverland Medical Center posted a profit of $28,512 for the month of June.

"June and July are historically bad months for the hospital, so we're tickled about this," said Riverland board chairman Jim Graves at its monthly meeting on Tuesday. "We've got about $30,000 in the bank that is non-committed which is really good for a small rural hospital."

Riverland Administrator Donald Rentfro expects a positive July, as well.

"We're happy to be moving in the right direction," Rentfro said.
