The Ferriday Town Council amended two ordinances dealing with borrowing money and water rates at a special meeting Thursday at town hall.

"We're just cleaning up and finalizing some paperwork," said Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen.

The board approved an ordinance and resolution to borrow $100,000 in emergency funding from a local bank to be paid back in six months. The State Bond Commission granted the town approval to borrow the money.

The ordinance approved states the money will be used to pay current expenses and set aside revenues for the payment of the certificate payable no later than March 1, 2013.

"We're busy as we can be paying bills," Allen said.
