Qualifying is slated Aug. 15-17 for a number of local special elections involving Ferriday, Ridgecrest and the Concordia Parish School Board.

The election is slated for Nov. 6.

School Board races are on tap in Districts 4B and 5A.

The District 4B election will be held to fill the unexpired term of Daryle Price, who resigned earlier this year to take over the position of parish coroner. Angela Hayes is serving in that post until the election.

The District 5A election is slated to fill the unexpired term of Martha Rabb, who also resigned earlier this year. Her slot is presently filled by Warren Enterkin.

A special election is slated for mayor and one alderman slot in Ridgecrest.

The mayor's election is on tap to fill the unexpired term of Kevin Graham, who resigned from the post last fall. Alderman Dewayne Sikes was appointed to serve as mayor until the election.

The alderman election in Ridgecrest is slated to fill Sikes' unexpired term. Cindy Halford is serving in that alderman slot until the election.

Justice of the Peace special elections are slated in District 1, to fill the unexpired term of Justin Conner, and District 5B, to fill the unexpired term of the late Lavere Book Jr.

Presently serving in District 1 is Kendrell Watkins and serving in District 5B is Jerry Stallings.

In Ferriday, qualifying is slated for all five aldermen slots. The election for those posts was originally scheduled for last year but postponed due to reapportionment.

Presently serving are Somer Lance, District A; Elijah "Stepper" Banks, District B; Gail Pryor, District C; Johnnie Brown, District D; and Gloria Lloyd, District E.

Terms expire June 30, 2016 for the Ferriday aldermen posts, while terms for other offices on the Nov. 6 ballot will be December 31, 2014.
