Jail trustee booked in Georgia
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
After serving 16 years of a 20-year sentence, Concordia Parish Correctional trustee Donald Bach stole an SUV Monday night and drove to Georgia before turning himself in Tuesday morning to authorities after running out of gas.

The 55-year-old Bach, a native of Ohio, worked as a maintenance crew trusty for four years on Hwy. 15, serving time for vehicular homicide.

"Something usually happens in the family or in a relationship," said Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick. "I never would have figured he would be the one to do something like this."

Bach, who was noticed missing Monday night at 10 p.m., called 911 after traveling 500 miles to Georgia and running out of gas.

Hedrick said Bach either stole the keys to the SUV or self-started without the key.

Bach is being held at the Haralson County Sheriff's Office in Georgia where he will be picked up by parish deputies and charged with simple escape and theft of a vehicle.
