Vidalia's 15-16 All-Stars got off on the right foot at the 2012 Senior League Softball World Series in Sussex County, De., defeating EMEA of Italy 6-5 on Sunday.

Vidalia, playing as Southwest, fell to Puerto Rico 4-2 Tuesday.

Vidalia scored the winning run Sunday as Paige Bryan's bunt was mishandled with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh to score Blake Colclasure with the eventual winning run.

Vidalia, which won the Southwest Regional title to advance to the Little League World Series, scored five runs in the fourth inning as Micahla Hughes doubled Taylor Rodgers tripled off the wall.

EMEA brought out the bats in the sixth, scoring four runs capped off by Rebecca Farraris' RBI double.

But Colclasure singled to lead off the seventhth, then scored on a bases loaded error to give Southwest the 6-5 win. Bryan allowed only four hits.

In Game 1, the Host-District 3 team had a good pitching performance from Haily Andrews (6 K's) and doubles from Andrews, Kaitlyn Slater and Jordan Clark, but allowed three runs in the 4th and two more in the fifth inning as the East team turned two double plays and took advantage of some errors to win the game 5-2. In Game 2, Central defeated Southeast 7-4.

In the final game Sunday, the West scored in the second, fourth and sixth innings and pounded out 10 hits on the way to a 4-0 win over Canada.

Southwest plays Central (South Bend, In.) today (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. Southwest plays Southeast (Cape Coral, Fl.) Thursday at 5:30 p.m. before beginning pool play Friday.

Vidalia must win its next two games to reach the championship round.
