Franklin Parish escapees caught
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Two Franklin Parish Detention Center inmates were captured in Concordia Parish Wednesday morning.

Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Capt. David Hedrick said brothers Matthew J. Robair, 22, and Michael Robair, 25, were arrested Wednesday morning at Ridgecrest.

The brothers escaped from the detention center Tuesday afternoon, stole a car and fled, Hedrick said.

He said a parish deputy stopped the two men on Deacon Wailes Road at Ferriday around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, but the men fled the scene on foot.

"It was a dangerous situation," Hedrick said. "We set up a perimeter and soon were joined by six Franklin Parish deputies."

He said the search intensified when the Louisiana State Penitentiary chase team from Angola arrived with bloodhounds, which soon zeroed in on the escapees.

Hedrick said the men were captured "at the end of Cowan Street."
