King wins first as AC coach

David King picked up his first win as head coach at Adams County Christian School as the Rebels defeated Hillcrest 24-6 in Natchez Friday.

The Rebels lost to Cathedral 42-13 in its opener.

"We preached all week about having adversity in their lives and one way to learn how to face it is right here on the football field," King said. "Our first touchdown was actually called back. But the kids re-grouped and did a great job. It was good to see these kids have some success. We needed something good to happen"

Lester Wells scored on runs of 2 and 41 yards in the first half and Trey Fleming and Cody Rhinehart added conversion runs.

Brandon Ross connected with Shane Pollan for a 30-yard score in the third period and Fleming ran in the conversion.

Fleming finished with 109 yards, while Welss rushed for 3.

ACCS visits Riverdale Friday.

"They are a lot like us in that they are trying to take their program to the next level," said King, who added that one of the Riverdale coaches is former Huntington coach Don King. "Hopefully we can carry over what happened last week into this week."
