A Louisiana Board of Ethics spokesperson said the board has received a $280 check from a Ferriday alderman in payment of a fine for a campaign finance disclosure violation.

Alainna Giacone, Communications Director for the Ethics Board, said Tuesday that Alderman Elijah Banks' check was received on Aug. 31. She said the envelope was postmarked Aug. 24.

Banks testified in Seventh Judicial Court that he mailed the check on Aug. 22.

The fine has been due for a decade, according to the board.

During a hearing on the matter on Aug. 27, Judge Leo Boothe ordered Banks to pay the remaining $182.85 in court costs and interest by 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28.
