Story Archives: Tensas downs CHA

Tensas downs CHA
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tensas Academy rebounded from a 16-12 loss to Christian Collegiate to defeat Chamberlain-Hunt Academy 34-18 Friday.

The Chiefs, 3-1, have now won 15 of their last 16 games in 8-man football action.

It was the first game of the year for CHA, and the first game in several years for the Wildcats, who are starting back up their football program.

"They had a couple of really good athletes, but they are still trying to get organized," said Tensas assistant coach Nickey Pere. "We were in better shape and outlasted them."

Tensas finished with more than 400 rushing yards.

Tensas hosts Briarfield Friday. Briarfield fell to Franklin 36-8 last week.

"They have a good running back and athletic quarterback," Pere said. "They like to spread it out with four wide-outs and then find a place for him to run. They are very well balanced. It's a big game for us because it is district."
