|Block gets first-ever win over Rayville|
Block High posted its first-ever win over Rayville as Ken Colbert's point-after kick in the first quarter was the difference in a 7-6 Bear win.
Colbert scored on a 2-yard run with 2:35 remaining in the first quarter.
Rayville scored its lone touchdown with 1:03 remaining as Davion Miller went in from 10 yards out. The point-after kick was good, but an illegal perceiver penalty negated the kick and the second kick was no good.
"Our defense did a great job," said Block head coach Benny Vault. "They bent a couple of times, but they played hard and didn't break. We had moved some people around. We played more physical. Any time we play someone with a spread offense, we tend to be more physical."
The win was also big as the Bears were coming off a 37-8 loss to Jena.
"That win definiltey picked the morale back up," Vault said. "The kids were more focused and more together."
Block plays at Donaldsonville Friday for Donaldsonville's Homecoming.
Donaldsonville spoiled Block's Homecoming last year, winning 54-0 in Jonesville.
"We've had that score up all week as motivation," Vault said. "They still had their starters in in the fourth quarter."
