Salem's Stevie Quinn scored on a 10-yard run in overtime and David Carr added the conversion as the Wildcats defeated Cathedral 14-12 in overtime Friday in Natchez.
Cathedral scored on a 1-yard run by Christian Jenkins in overtime, but came up short on the conversion attempt.
Cathedral tied the game at 6-6 on a 30-yard run by Jenkins.
The Green Wave were playing without three starters - quarterback Thomas Garrity, running back Khalil Brice and wide receiver Ishmael Blackmon. Peyton Jenkins injured his shoulder in the contest.
Cathedral travels to arch-rival St. Aloysius Friday.
Garrity is expected to be back at quarterback.
Sophomore Tyler Stockstill passed for 64 yards last week for the Green Wave in his first start. Christian Jenkins rushed for 156 yards.
Cathedral head coach Ron Rushing said Garrity should be back this week.
"We may have to change up some things we do with some of the personnel we have out," Rushing said. "We don't run the spread as well without those people."
St. Aloysius defeated Hartfield Academy 33-7 for its first victory of the season.
The Flashes fell to Salem 42-14 earlier this year and were beaten by Dexter 16-7.
"It doesn't matter about records when we play," said Rushing, whose team fell to 2-2.
Cathedral defeated St. Aloysius 28-0 last year, but only beat the heavy underdog Flashes 13-8 two years ago and fell 10-7 three years ago.
"Coach (Bobby) Smithhart has had some of the same injury problems we have and they are very young," Rushing said. "But they will give us their best effort of the season."
