Council to discuss shoe company contract

Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen will present a contract with Neimaj Footwear and Apparel to the Ferriday Town Council at its next meeting on Nov. 13.

He said the council will decide whether to proceed in bringing the company to Ferriday.

Allen and other officials met with representatives from Neimaj Monday to discuss the company locating in Concordia Parish. Discussions center on providing the former Kelly's Kids building on Hwy. 15 for the company to house its distribution warehouse and research and development center.

Neimaj, a company specializing in the design and production of athletic footwear, said in a press release last week it has plans to have a full manufacturing facility that will produce 100 percent organic footwear while utilizing the port and industrial parks in Concordia Parish.

Allen, Concordia Economic Director Heather Malone, Ferriday Town Attorney Myisha Davis and and Ferriday special projects manager James Skipper met with two shoes representatives of the tennis shoe company based out of Memphis.
