Ferriday visits Lake Providence Ferriday and Lake Providence will both be seeking their first District 2-2A wins of the season as the Trojans visit the Panthers Friday in Lake Providence.
Both teams are 1-6 on the year.
Ferriday is seeded No. 49 in Class 2A power ratings, while Lake Providence is at No. 56.
"We know we have to win out to have a chance for the playoffs," said Ferriday coach Cleothis Cummings. "Lake Providence has struggled, but they have some good players, the good news is that their quarterback, Lamar Carraway is gone. He gave us fits. But they still have a tough running back, good quarterback and tall receivers."
"It's been a tough season," said first-year Lake Providence coach Marcus Yanez. "We're so young that I was expecting to take some bumps and bruises. We've got a lot of first-year starters who have to learn how to win."
Cummings will be without Dontrell Domino, who had surgery on his ACL, linemen Kiewan Mile, Archie Green and Henry Jefferson, all out with injuries.
"We're just having to tough it out," Cummings said. "We're still confident and know we can win our last games. We just have to stay focused."
"I don't think Ferriday's record indicates what type of team they have," Yanez said. "They have played a tough schedule and they have been competitive throughout the season." |
