Cathedral ends season
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Cathedral High stormed out to a 27-6 lead against Pelahatchie, but the Chiefs rallied, outscoring the Green Wave 45-13 on its way to a 51-40 win over Cathedral in a first round Class A contest Friday.

"It was fun for a while," said Cathedral head coach Ron Rushing. "We just couldn't stop them."

Thomas Garrity connected with Parker Rymer on a 92-yard TD pass early before hitting Kyle Bradley on TD passes of 8, 66, 64 and 34 yards.

Garrity passed to Josh Wilkerson for six yards for Cathedral's final score.

Garrity finished 15-for-28 for 415 yards, with Bradley catching seven passes for 222 yards.

Rymer had three catches for 141 yards.

Garrity had 360 passing yards at halftime.

"We looked on the film and saw they lined up the same way in the secondary every play," Rushing said. "We felt like we had some plays that would work."

Cathedral finished its season at 7-4.

"I thought the kids did well all year," Rushing said. "We've got 45 of 51 coming back next year so we are excited and eager to start. We'll hit the weights after Thanksgiving. It all starts now."
