Woman threatened during home invasion
The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a break-in early Wednesday morning in Ferriday after three armed, masked men forced their way into a home at 188 Railroad Avenue and threatened the life of a woman.
According to CPSO Investigator Jamie Lipscomb, three black males were involved in the break-in at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday.
Lipscomb said a female and her 3-year-old daughter were in the house when the men knocked on her door. When the woman asked them to identify themselves they answered that they were police officers.
"She knew the police had no reason to be there so she didn't answer the door," Lipscomb said. "She then heard kicking on the door. After three kicks they knocked it in. The lady grabbed a knife to protect herself and her daughter, but she said one of the men stuck a pistol in her mouth and threatened to kill her in front of her daughter."
Lipscomb said the intruders then asked for money and the victim told them she did not have any.
"They began ransacking her house, flipping over mattresses and tearing up the house and the woman said he pleaded for her life," Lipscomb said. "They dumped her purse out and got $10 dollars and some items. She said they told her not to contact law enforcement or they would come back and kill her."
Lipscomb said patrols have been increased in the area and a deputy will be on site.
"We got a footprint off a Christmas decoration and also scouted the entire area and may have a lead on a vehicle," Lipscomb said. "But if anyone has any other information, we're asking them to contact the sheriff's office."
Concordia Parish Sheriff Kenneth Hedrick said his office will not tolerate this type of activity.
