Parish jobless rate 7.4 percent in November

The jobless rate for Concordia Parish in November was 7.1 percent, down from October's 9.4 percent revised rate and down from the November 2011 rate of 9.2 percent.

In November 2012, 6,899 parish residents were employed while 524 were out of work.

The following jobless rates for November 2012 were compiled in the region:

Catahoula Parish, 6.1 percent, 3,731 employed, 243 unemployed.

Franklin Parish, 7.4 percent, 6,753 employed, 543 unemployed.

Tensas Parish, 7.2 percent, 1,716 employed, 133 unemployed.

LaSalle Parish, 3.3 percent, 7,049 employed, 238 unemployed.

East Carroll had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 11.5 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.8 percent in November, a 0.8 percent decline that was the best in the country and the lowest the state rate has been since January 2009, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.
