More donations were collected for the Concordia Christmas Charity Fund in the days before Christmas.

Toys and food purchased through the fund drive were distributed Friday at the Ferriday High School cafeteria.

The gifts were provided through the annual Concordia Christmas Charity Fund Drive.

Chairman Rena Pitts said there were 240 applications this year for 520 children, up from 240 applications in 2011 for 500 children.

Recent donations included:

Concordia Sentinel, $250, in memory of Sam Hanna and Vivien Magee.

Carol Ann Blitzer, $100, in memory of Rose and Benjamin Lopoo, Evelyn Lopoo Nathanson, Marty Nathanson and Beatrice Lopoo Nathanson.

The Christmas fund was established in 1988 following a holiday scam when outside promoters raised money for the needy and skipped town.
