by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday High's playoff hopes took a hit Friday as the Trojans and Lady Trojans dropped a pair of District 3-3A games at Homer.

With three games remaining, including Tuesday night's contest against Lakeside, Ferriday boys were ranked No. 36 in kenramsey.com, while the Lady Trojans are ranked No. 37.

The top 32 advance to the playoffs.

Ferriday's boys fell to Homer, 63-44, dropping their fourth straight contest.

DaJohn Mitchell led the Trojans with 13 points. Leading scorer Brandon Scott injured his shoulder, but was expected to play Tuesday night against Lakeside.

"Right now we just want to concentrate on finishing strong and sending our seniors out on a good note," said Ferriday boys coach K.G. Watkins. "And we'll start making preparations for next year."

Ferriday's girls fell to Homer, 54-35.

Sha'Keria Kelly paced the Lady Trojans with 27 points.

Homer led 11-4 after one period of play and 25-10 at halftime.

"We started out bad and could never recover," said Lady Trojan coach Lisa Abron. "Homer has a real good team and has not lost in district. We just have to have a win at this stage."

Ferriday hosts Jonesboro-Hodge Friday.
