Crop production meeting set Feb. 26
The Concordia Parish Crop Production meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Monterey First Baptist Church Gymnasium.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m.
The program is as follows:
9:00, Welcome, Sebe Brown.
9:10, Weed Control in Row Crops, Dr. Donnie Miller.
9:40, Insect Control in Row Crops, Sebe Brown.
10:10, Precision GIS, Dennis Burns.
10:40, WPS and Drift Control, Kim Pope.
11:30, Card Recertification/Lunch/Adjourn.
Participants must attend entire meeting to be eligible for Private Pesticide Applicator recertification. A representative with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be present to monitor attendance at meeting and recertify farmers at the conclusion of meeting.
Cost for recertification is $25 (must be in the form of a check or money order) no cash will be accepted. If your card has expired- you must retake the test at the Concordia Parish AgCenter office to get certified. This meeting will not update your card.
In addition to the above meeting, a Workers Protection Standard (WPS) - meeting will be held at the same facility on Tuesday, Feb. 26 with registration starting at 1 p.m. and meeting beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The meeting is for "handler training for farm workers." This will be the only WPS meeting held in Concordia Parish for the upcoming growing season.
