Common Core training set for teachers
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEL) is hosting Laying the Foundation training for teachers in Concordia and Tensas parishes this week.

Thirty teachers in grades 6-12 will receive free training on the Common Core Standards and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Assessments. The two-day training will take place at the Concordia Parish School Board on February 28-March 1.

The Laying the Foundation Training program provides math, science, and English teachers in grades six through 12 with the content knowledge, teaching strategies, vertically-aligned materials, and assessments required to emulate Advanced Placement-level coursework in the lower grades. In addition, ELA teachers in Concordia and Tensas will receive strategies for meeting students below level, print ready lessons at differentiated levels, and questions crafted for critical thinking.

A+PEL is an association for educators committed to improving education for students. By focusing on professional development, teacher advocacy and excellence in education, A+PEL empowers Louisiana's students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.
