Another tragedy in America
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The tragedy that took place Monday at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Va., where a gunman took the lives of at least 33 people, including himself, was a stark reminder of how dangerous our world has become.

It also was reminder that there exist many sick people among us who have little respect for human life, people who apparently are willing to commit murder in cold blood without concern for the consequences of their actions.

Today, family members of those who were slain at Virginia Tech are asking why. They're asking why did a sick soul act in cold blood and murder their loved ones, men and women who were either attending as students or working at one of America's institutions of higher education.

When we think of college campuses, thoughts of young men and women working toward completing a college education to improve their lots in life come to mind.

Murder doesn't.

Unfortunately, though, murder was committed Monday at Virginia Tech.

People died for no reason.

Many lives were scarred forever.

Why?

We could not begin to answer that question.

We're left to wonder why as well.
