PHOTO -- HANEY'S BIG HOUSE, BLOCK FIRE IN FERRIDAY, 1966
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Onlookers watch a fire which started in Haney's Big House in Ferriday in 1966 and quickly spread, consuming nearby businesses, including Big George's Lounge, Watkins' Grocery & Cleaners, John Smith's Pool Hall, Big Luke's Barber Shop and a skating rink. Many believe the fire, which was blamed on a faulty ice machine, was a Klan-directed arson.
