Clark wins Supreme Court post Judge Marcus Clark of West Monroe was elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court 4th District on Saturday although Concordia voters supported his opponent -- attorney Jimmy Faircloth Jr. of Pineville.
Clark and Faircloth each carried 10 parishes in the 20-parish 4th District, while Faircloth carried every precinct and absentee voting in Concordia with 744 votes (66 percent) to 381.
The parishwide turnout for the election was only 8.2 percent, said Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber.
Districtwide, Clark garnered 53 percent of the vote, outpolling Faircloth, 28,521 to 25,495. Clark fielded his largest turnout out in his home base of Ouachita, where he beat Faircloth, 14,253 to 5,322.
Faircloth's home base of Rapides didn't give him the margin he needed for victory although he carried the parish handily with 8,461 votes to 2,193.
In addition to Ouachita, Clark carried Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Richland, Tensas and Union.
Faircloth carried Concordia, Bienville, Catahoula, Claiborne, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Rapides, West Carroll and Winn. |
