Trojan hoops in tourneys
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday's girls went defeated Franklin Parish before falling to Madison parish at the Tensas Parish Tournament over the weekend.

Ferriday fell to Madison 57-50 Friday night.

Madison outscored the Lady Trojans 15-12 in the second period and 23-19 in the third stanza.

Chante Poole led the Lady Trojans with 25 points, while Jasmine Butler added 13 and T'Keyah Fletcher added 11.

The Lady Trojans upended Franklin Parish 49-34.

Ferriday led 10-6 after one period and 24-19 at halftime.

Poole led the way with 25 points, while Fletcher added nine.

Ferriday's boys and girls were scheduled to play at Rayville Friday, but because both schools were involved in the football playoffs, those games were cancelled.

Ferriday is competing in the Marksville Tournament, which began Monday and ends Wednesday.

Ferriday's boys fell to Pineville, while the Lady Trojans fell to Buckeye.

"We got one practice in with the football guys who are playing basketball," said Ferriday boys coach Glen Henderson. "They haven't touched a basketball in six months, so it's a matter of them getting the feel of it again. This is what we expected, to get off to another slow start. But I've seen improvement. We're waiting on a few guys to step up."

Ferriday returns to action on December 1 as the Trojans and Lady Trojans play at Franklin Parish.

Ferriday will compete in the Vidalia Tournament Dec. 3-5.
