Christmas fund drive underway
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Concordia Christmas Charity Fund (CCCF) annual donation drive is underway.

CCCF will distribute groceries and toys to selected applicants on December 21 at Ferriday High School.

Last year, 720 families received assistance through the fund.

Organizer Rena Pitts said a meeting of volunteers will be held at Ferriday High on December 19 at 9 a.m.

"We'll need to start preparing the bags of groceries," Pitts said.

The food and toys will be distributed on December 21 at 8:30 a.m. at Ferriday High.

That is the first day the school can be used for distribution.

"We never set a goal for how many we want to serve, we're just trying to meet the needs of all the applicants, especially the young children," Pitts said.

Pitts said all donations to the fund will be acknowledged in the Concordia Sentinel.

Anyone wishing to donate or receive an application, can call the Ferriday Chamber of Commerce at 757-9999.

Pitts also asked that everyone involved in the Ferriday Christmas Parade be ready to line up on December 5 at 9 a.m.

The parade starts at 10 a.m.

"We need more entries," Pitts said.

The Vidalia Christmas Parade is scheduled for December 6, while the Clayton Christmas Parade will be Dec. 12.
