Christmas parades this weekend The annual Christmas parades in Ferriday and Vidalia will officially usher in the holiday season this weekend.
Ferriday's parade, sponsored by the Ferriday Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The theme is "Santa's Workshop."
Lineup will begin at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Ferriday High School. The parade will travel down E. E. Wallace Boulevard to Louisiana Avenue. From Louisiana Avenue the parade will turn left on First Street and then left on Kentucky Avenue back to the high school.
Cash prizes will be awarded in the small and large float categories.

The Vidalia parade is themed, "All I Want for Christmas," and will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. The Vidalia Women's Club sponsors the holiday event.
Cliff Merritt will serve as grand marshal.
The parade begins at Vidalia Upper Elementary and will travel up Carter Street to Vidalia High School. Line-up will begin 2 p.m. at Vidalia Upper Elementary. Prizes for large and small floats will also be awarded. For further information, call 336-4149 or 719-5733.
There is no entry fee for either parade.
In Clayton, the Christmas parade has been scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2009, 1 p.m. Entry fee is $20.
Beginning at 8 a.m., food booths and garage sale booths will open in the park area located behind the Concordia Parish Sheriff's substation. Those interested in setting up a booth should contact City Hall at 757-8540 for more information. A fee of $10 will be charged for garage sale booths and $15 for food booths.
