posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The tenth annual Delta Music Festival will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in downtown Ferriday.

This year's inductees, legendary guitarist James Burton and gospel group The Hemphills, will have an exhibit dedicated within the museum and receive a star on the museum's "Walk of Fame" sidewalk.

The festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the Texaco Country Showdown Talent Show. The event will be the qualifying round for America's largest country music talent show with a $100,000 grand prize. Contestants are Miranda Gonzales, Jessie LaRae, Scott Lee Tully, Rebecca Johnson, Ritchie Kelly, April Provost, Valerie Forman, Hobie Waits, David Saulters, and Katlyn Wilson. The finals round will be held at the Jim Bowie Festival on September 24.

"There's a lot of great talent around here," said Ferriday Mayor Glen McGlothin. "This should add a lot to both festivals."

On the stage at 11:15 a.m. is Vince Hutchinson and the Heavy Storm Band. The group Slow Ride follows at 12:30.

The Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held at 1:15 p.m.

The Hemphills will perform at 1:45 p.m.

The day of events will culminate with Jason D. Williams taking the stage at 3 p.m.
