Vidalia utility worker electrocuted posted Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 @ 2:14 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  A City of Vidalia utility lineman is recovering in a Brandon, Miss., hospital after being electrocuted Monday morning while working on a transformer at the Vidalia Municipal Complex. Travis Todd of Vidalia was taken to Natchez Regional and airlifted to Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Crossgates River Oaks Hospital Marketing and Communications Director Alicia Carpenter said Todd is in critical, but stable condition. "We just thank the good Lord we didn't lose him," said Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland, who was on the scene trying to assist Todd. "The ambulance came quickly and he was able to grab the board with his hand and pull himself up on it." Copeland said Todd was mapping the wiring for the new complex. "All the wiring is underground and we think he just may have stumbled into a hot area that touched his ear and came out his foot," Copeland said. "Travis is one of our most experienced linemen." Copeland said that all of Todd's vital organs are performing well. "He may have to have some skin grafts," Copeland said.
