Ferriday borrowing $100,000 to operate
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ferriday Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday night to seek emergency funding totaling $100,000 to operate during the days ahead.

A resolution was passed to borrow the funds through an emergency funding bond from a local lending institution to be paid back in six months.

"These funds are necessary for the town to continue its day-to-day operations," Allen said. "We have already talked with our bond attorney and everything is worked out. We're going to catch up on some bills because right now we can't afford to operate the town."

The board also approved an incomplete budget for 2012-13.

Allen said town workers have not found the financial records for the months of April, May or June and that the audit will not be available until Friday.

"We'll have the opportunity to amend it as we go," Allen said. "But we have to pass the budget to continue to do business and receive state funds."

A total of $3.1 million in expenditures is on the current proposed budget, as compared to $3,099,382 in 2011-12.
