Upriver to revitalize boat ramp
by Tracey Bruce - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Vidalia Town Council granted permission Tuesday night to Upriver Boat Supply, LLC to begin preliminary work to revitalize a boat ramp on the Mississippi River.

That action came during the board's regular meeting.

Upriver was granted a lease by the city at the August meeting to rent the former boat ramp, north of the newly constructed ramp. The company plans to provide the only docking station between Vicksburg and Baton Rouge — a 44-hour period for barge traffic.

The company would install an anchoring system to provide a crew change site and grocery and supply stocking facility for barge traffic.
