Drainage tax election slated for Dec. 8

The Concordia Parish Police Jury approved the language for the proposed one-mill property tax for drainage during its regular meeting Monday Night.

The parishwide election will be held on Dec. 8.

Jurors approved the resolution that will be forwarded to the Jury's bonding attorney, who will then provide the Secretary of State's office the official wording to be placed on the ballot.

Income from the millage is expected to total $133,000 a year and will be used to fund the operation and maintenance of two proposed drainage projects.

The Black River Lake Recreational & Water Conservation District and the Concordia Parish Drainage Committee previously recommended that the one-mill tax be proposed,.
