Delaney retiring as Ridgecrest fire chief
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department kept its fire rating at 5, which should continue to benefit Ridgecrest home owners, said Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Chief Lynn Delaney, who also announced he is retiring as fire chief after 27 years.

"It's just time," Delaney said. "Things are changing. But you have a very enthusiastic group of members and they will keep things going. I think we accomplished a lot of good things over the years."

Delaney said fire departments have to "buy" good ratings nowadays.

"It takes a lot of paperwork, record-keeping and buying new equipment," he said. "I will certainly be around to assist during the transition."
