Ridgecrest hires water plant manager
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ridgecrest Board of Alderman has authorized Mayor Dwayne Sikes to signed a contract with a Harrisonburg company to operate the town's water plant and has approved a mosquito spraying program.

Sikes said Tuesday that he will sign a two-year contract which will pay JCP Management $5 per meter per month.

"We have about 280-plus meters," Sikes said. "Our bill this last month was about $1,300."

JCP was hired on a temporary basis earlier this summer after the town council terminated the water superintendent.

"I'm very happy with the way JCP has been operating the water plant," Sikes said. "They will continue to do all the water testing and make sure the plant is operating properly."

In other business, the town will begin spraying for mosquitoes this week.

Sikes said the Town of Vidalia has loaned the town a spare mosquito sprayer.
