School 2012-13 budget totals $48 million The Concordia Parish School Board adopted a $48 million consolidated budget for 2012-13 during its regular meeting Thursday night.
The general fund budget totals $31.1 million with projected expenditures of $30.5 million.
Business Manager Tom O'Neal said the new budget includes increased salary supplements by $900 for all school employees, including salary supplements of $3,500 for teachers and $3,300 for coaches.
O'Neal said the new budget projects Minimum Foundation Program funding of $21,672,308.
An ongoing program of facility upgrades will include new ceilings and the rerouting of air conditioning ducts at Vidalia High cafeteria and kitchen, Vidalia Lower classrooms and two special classrooms at Vidalia Upper.
Hallway improvements are slated at Vidalia Junior High and Monterey as well as new gym ceilings and lighting at Vidalia High and Vidalia Junior High.
New bleachers will be constructed at Vidalia High, Vidalia Junior High, Ferriday Junior High and Ferriday High at an estimated cost of $200,000.
Meanwhile, O'Neal said upgrades to the magnet school in the former Ridgecrest School building totaled $138,000 and included new concrete sidewalks, an outdoor basketball pad with six goals, new tile in the office corridor and entrance ways to classrooms, new carpet in the common area, inside painting, construction of a cinder block petition between one of the classrooms, new furniture for students, iPads and associated fixtures.For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
