Scott out for year with injury Ferriday's DaVante Scott tore his ACL and MCL Thursday night in Copiah-Lincoln's upset win over Hinds Community College.
Co-Lin spokesperson Natalie Davis said Scott will have surgery. She also believes the injury will not affect Scott's commitment to Mississippi State.
Scott is in his sophomore season at Co-Lin.
The Wolfpack upset the No. 16 ranked Hinds Eagles 21-6 in South Division action. The Wolves improve to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the South Division. The loss drops the Eagles to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the division.
After a scoreless first period, the Eagles score first on a 25-yard field goal by Tyler Poe at the 12:13 mark.
The Wolfpack would respond as quarterback Chandler Rogers scored from 1-yard out with 10:18 remaining in the quarter. Nolan Long added the PAT to put Co-Lin up 7-3.
Co-Lin would increase their lead when Rogers hit wide receiver Casey Gladney for a 7-yard touchdown. Long's PAT put the Wolfpack up 14-3 with 10:21 remaining in the game.
On the next Hinds possession, Poe hit a 22-yard field goal to cut the Wolfpack lead to 14-6 with 8:09 left.
With 4:48 left on the clock, Co-Lin defensive back Jeremy Davis returned a Christopher Nelson pass 63 yards to paydirt giving the Wolfpack a 21-6 lead.
Rogers completed 18-of-28 passes on the night for 286 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Running back Darius Guy led the ground game with 43 yards on 16 carries. Guy also had 111 receiving yards on 7 catches. The Wolfpack had 308 yards of total offense.
Terrell Hartsfield and Kalen Jackson led the Co-Lin defense with 9 tackles apiece. Jerrell Jordan added 8 tackles. Co-Lin had 12 tackles for loss for 66 yards and 5 sacks for 32 yards. Davis and Alonzo Lewis each had an interception.
Jabari Baker led Hinds with 137 yards on 23 carries. Quadarias Mireles had 6 catches for 115 yards. Quarterback Christopher Nelson was 14-of-29 for 186 yards and 2 interceptions. |
