ACCS falls to Simpson

Adams County Christian's 7-0 lead over Simpson Friday at AC did not last long as the Cougars answered in a big way, defeating the Rebels 49-14 on AC's Homecoming night.

AC scored first on an 8-yard TD pass from Brandon Ross to Trey Fleming.

But the defending state champions answered with a touchdown in the first quarter and 36 points in the second period.

Ross hooked up with Lester Wells on a 21-yard scoring play in the third quarter.

Simpson shut out ACCS 40-0.

Simpson defeated Silliman in the first round of the playoffs last year.

The Cougars eliminated Brookhaven in the second round before disposing of Trinity 23-7 in the third semifinals.

Simpson defeated River Oaks for the state championship last season.

ACCS hosts Silliman Friday. The Rebels were beaten by Silliman 34-12 last year.

Silliman celebrated Homecoming festivities with a 33-24 victory over the Copiah Academy Colonels last Friday for its third straight win.
